Web Essentials Asia, (Cambodia) is informing about TYPO3 event:
Hi everyone
As you might have read in an earlier post, we would like to organise the first TYPO3 conference in Asia: T3CON12 Asia.
As we have quite a few human resources available here in Cambodia our team would like to go ahead and organise it in Phnom Penh in August 2012.
It would be great if all TYPO3 communities in Asia could be included in organising it, so far I only heard back from TYPO3 Japan (Thomas). So what about Thailand?
And here is the plan:
2 days conference
1 training day beforehand (or more) for (new) TYPO3 users
Date: End of August/beginning of September 2012: Wednesday, 29 August – Saturday, 1 September 2012 (or one week earlier).
Initial Idea for conference:
I suggest to have 2 tracks. As TYPO3 is not yet well-known in Asia (at least not in Cambodia) we would like to make the conference as attractive as possible. One track could be Mobile (there is quite a lot of mobile development here in Cambodia and I guess in your countries as well), this might also be interesting for the TYPO3 people who will join. The second track should be around TYPO3 obviously.
Does this sound interesting?
These are just a few initial thoughts to start discussing with all of you. I’m very interested to hear your feedback, comments etc. Let’s start the discussion here in this mailing-list in order to collect some more ideas.
Cheers,
Rebecca

Bizreport says Americans book 40% of their travel online. In Europe around 30% do so and in Asia-Pacific 20%, less in some countries in the region. But, according to a new report, that’s all about to change as travel tops online shopping lists in countries across Asia-Pacific
PhoCusWright forecasts travel booked online in Asia-Pacific countries will rise 30%-40% over the next few years. In comparison, the U.S. and other mature markets will see growth of around 5%
In July last year, iResearch estimated that revenue from the online travel service market in China alone would more than triple between 2009 and 2013
There is plenty of scope for growth in the online travel market in Asia as recent survey findings have shown that travel purchases top the list of online shopping here, a trend that is set to grow exponentially says Expedia

Online Shopping Asia, Middle East and Africa e-Commerce is growing in emerging markets like Malaysia, which is now comparable to Australia, according to respondents who access the Internet to shop. The latest Mastercard report indicated an increase in the United Arab Emirates among the percentage of respondents accessing the Internet for shopping
Consumers in Asia, Middle East and Africa are turning to online shopping sites for event tickets, online gaming, downloading music, purchasing books, and for travel (airline websites). The survey was conducted from 3 September to 1 October 2010 and reached 8,500 consumers from 15 markets across Asia Pacific, the Middle East and Africa
The most active consumers are from South Korea, China, and Japan, according to respondents who are most likely to access the Internet for shopping. Shoppers in these markets also purchased the most items online within recent months with Chinese consumers averaging 5.6 items, up from 5.1 items in 2009. Number of purchases by consumers in South Korea & Japan remained steady from 2009 with 5.9 items and 5.1 items respectively.
More people in the region go online for lifestyle purchases as well as day-to-day household items. This shift in consumer behavior really shows that today’s shoppers are diversifying not only what they buy, but how and where.
This is marked by a growing trend of mobile Internet access among consumers in Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa as they proactively seek better and more personal ways to shop online
The 2011 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) Las Vegas Function, fashion and fun debut at 2011 CES. The Show kicked off Thursday at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The three themes at this year’s convention are function, fashion and fun.

Nearly 126,000 people are expected to attend the convention, a gathering that will debut about 20,000 new products ranging from helmet cams to incredible video games and appliances that communicate with each other and you over the web.
“We estimate some 20,000 new products to be launched at the 2011 CES,” says Tara Dunion, Consumer Electronics Association Senior Director.
The Consumer Electronics Association predicts a three percent growth this year in their $180 billion industry. That translates well for Las Vegas, which has hosted the trade show since 1978.
Major hotels are sold out and room rates are up. CES officials say it’s a profitable partnership.
“We have research that says each CES attendee has an average of 12 business meetings here in Las Vegas at CES. So they can really get a ton of business done, come and do an event like CES, and experiencing Las Vegas and all that it has to offer as well.”
The industry’s next level of electronics fill 2,700 booths on 1.6 million square feet of convention floor Lifestyle electronics are huge this year, from your television to your refrigerator. These appliances are now able to communicate with you over the web.
“Different things, from being notified when their oven pre-heats to when the door was left ajar by the kids, maybe,” explains Steven Nackers, Wolf Project Engineer.
Kids in attendance are distracted by incredible video game, like one with the inflatable go-carts, or are enjoying recording their own action adventures with a private helmet cam.
“We are a YouTube generation, and that generation’s expanded from 15 to 50,” says Stuart Barber, Director of Sales for Midland Radio Corporation.
Function is fused with fashion, from geeky 3-D chic glasses to headphones that reflect your colorful personality.
“We have the cloud with licenses from Hello Kitty, Betty Boop, Marvel, Star Wars, Sponge Bob,” offers Conrad Bergstrom, President of Zoundustries. “We just want to take it to the next level by representing all these bold graphics.”
CES runs through Sunday at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Vendors say many of the hot new gadgets debuting this year will be on store shelves within months.
